As the calendar turns to December, the contenders are starting to separate from the pretenders in the NFL.
So which teams land in which category?
entering Week 13.
Here's some additional information on the rankings:
The cream of the crop:
The Cowboys (10-1) and Patriots (9-2) appear to be on a collision course for the Super Bowl.
The teams couldn't be any more different.
The Cowboys are led by brash owner Jerry Jones and rookies Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott. The Patriots are led by intentionally boring coach Bill Belichick and veteran quarterback Tom Brady.
The teams have taken different paths to the same point: The top record in their respective conferences.
Power rankings
After the Patriots and Cowboys there's a crowd of challengers ready to make a run. The Seahawks and Raiders look like the most serious contenders in each conference. The Giants are fighting for respect after a six-game winning streak, but the next five games will reveal if they're for real.
The Jabrill Peppers sweepstakes
Plenty of teams will shift their focus to next year over the next month. The Browns (0-12) and 49ers (1-10) are in a tight race for the No.
1 pick in the 2017 draft. It's time for the 3-8 Jets to look to the future, even if coach Todd Bowles isn't ready to pull the plug on veteran quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick.
