The House of Representatives has urged the federal government to declare a state of emergency on increased kidnapping in Nigeria

Daily Post reports that the House urged the federal government to organize a security conference that will include all the security agencies, all GSM service providers and relevant standing committees of the National Assembly on these issues.
In a motion sponsored by Hon. Babatunde Kolawole representing Akoko southeast/southwest federal constituency of Ondo state on the floor of the lower chamber on Wednesday, the House stressed that in the last 10 years, the rate of kidnapping has increased.
The lawmakers also said that the rate has risen to a very disturbing level which makes the country unsafe.
Hon. Orker Jev Orker representing Buruku federal constituency of Benue state narrated how his mother was kidnapped few years ago and the police could not help.
